This past week I was invited to the launch of Versace’s newest fragrance – Dylan Purple by @DaveLackie and @Scent Lodge.
I was honoured and excited to learn about this new fragrance that was created by Christophe Raynaud in close collaboration with Donatella Versace. The scent transports and entices you to an endless summer with an invitation to travel to Italy, where you can spend your days eating Gelato, walking on the beaches that have been warmed by the sun then ending the day watching a glorious purple sunset.
The event took place at Restoration Hardware Courtyard Restaurant, Yorkdale. I was greeted by our gracious host Dave Lackie, who seated us at our tables. We enjoyed a delicious meal, I had the lobster roll with truffle fries, yum. Melanie Caplan ( National fragrance educator for Versace) came by each table to talk about the fragrance, love the passion and knowledge she brings to each and every fragrance she talks about and bringing it to life right before our eyes – Purple Dylan was no exception.
Notes: A floral and fruity fragrance –
- Bitter Orange
- Begamot – mood enhancer
- blended with Pear juice – these 3 are the top notes
- Purple Freesia – is the star of the scent
- Mahonia -adds a lovely scent of lily of the valley
- Pomarose, apple , rose, plum and raisin – make up the heart of the fragrance which invokes a fruity, floral, soft or peppery tone depending on the person
- Verginia Cedar
- Belambre Wood
- Ambrofix – created to smell like amber green with is very sensual and aminalic
- Sylkolide (has the ability to cling to all 3 layers of the fragrance)
- The base notes create a powdery, musky dry down thanks to the last 4 ingredients.
The Bottle design is similar to Dylan Turquoise – but its purple in colour – which is Donatella’s favourite colour. The shape is reminiscent of Versace’s love of Greek history and culture – the amphora was used to carry only the most precious of things- the flacon is shaped like the ancient amphora. The medusa logo is on top of the lid of the fragrance as well as in the centre of the bottle itself – the versace name is embossed on the bottle as well. It’s a very sexy flacon design.
Thanks again to @davelackie, @scentlodge (melanie caplan, Nicholas, Jan and the scent lodge team) for an incredible evening of fragrance, reuniting with so many friends after nearly 3 years was nothing more than magical and I feel so blessed and grateful to be a part of this enchanting evening.
My personal thoughts on the fragrance – I love it – the magic in the scent is exquisite, I’m sure it’ll do very well as we approach the warmer weather, I’ve been wearing this daily since I got the bottle and really love how it smells on me. If you get the chance go try it at your favourite fragrance counter – let me know what your thoughts are??
